WILMINGTON — The controversial project that would build 27 townhouses next to the Wilmington Town Beach is one step closer to becoming a reality.

LAKE PLACID — The Olympic Oval is now closed for the season and no more public skating will be offered at the venue until next winter.

A spokesperson for the Olympic Regional Development Authority attributed the closure to warm weather and a forecast of rain this weekend.

ORDA gets $10,000 grant to modify race course at Whiteface Mt. Ski Area

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Athletes competing in the Super G and Giant Slalom at Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington will race on a much improved trail thanks, in part, to a grant from the Kelly Brush Foundation.

LP trustee proposes earlier meetings

LAKE PLACID — Lake Placid village Trustee Zay Curtis proposed changing the start time of village board meetings from 5:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Last year, the board changed its meeting time from 7 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

If board meetings were moved up to 4:30 p.m., Curtis said village staff wouldn’t have to stay as late to attend.

Lake Placid Public Library gets grant

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Public Library has been awarded a grant of $4,000 from the Adirondack Community Trust’s Frances Douglass Silleck Fund.
