RAY BROOK - The state Adirondack Park Agency Friday, Nov. 9, found a number of state plans to comply with the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan, and announced the dates for the annual Local Government Day.

During the second day of its monthly meeting, Friday, Nov. 9, the APA board found that four state Department of Environmental Conservation plans conform with the SLMP and that two unit management plans were approved for the DEC to send to public comment.

Three of the DEC plans involve campgrounds, specifically Eagle Point Campground in Chester and Brown Tract Pond Campground in Raquette Lake. The third plan is an amendment to the DEC's Generic Campground UMP.

The Grass River Wild Forest UMP amendment was also found to be compliant with the SLMP, and public drafts of the DEC's Hammond Pond Wild Forest UMP and an amendment to the Blue Ridge UMP were also approved for the DEC to send out for public comment.

The board also approved a variance request for a private home on Loon Lake, and approved the plan for an excavation business in Fort Ann.

The APA board authorized the agency's policy on renewable energy, supply and conservation to go out for public comment as well, and accepted the draft environmental impact statement for changes to the Town of Westport's land use map. A public comment period will be announced for the Westport map once a date for a public hearing has been set.

The APA's annual Local Government Day Conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Lake Placid on Wednesday and Thursday, April 3 and 4 next year. Registration forms and the agenda will be available in February next year.

The next APA meeting is slated for Dec. 13 and 14.
