Let’s hear it for BBQ ringmaster Dmitry Feld

July 13, 2018
Editorial , Lake Placid News

If an outer-space alien stopped by the I Love BBQ and Music Festival in Lake Placid this past weekend, met a volunteer and said, "Take me to your leader," in that monotone sci-fi voice - a theramin playing in the background - the alien would be brought to Dmitry Feld.

Feld, marketing manager at USA Luge, is the organizer of the BBQ Festival, an annual benefit for the Shipman Youth Center. After complimenting the alien on speaking such good English, Feld would invite the alien to try some of the Best Ribs in the East. They soon would be fast friends and the alien would most likely travel back to Earth for the BBQ Festival every year to volunteer. Why? Because it's Dmitry Feld and because he asked.

When interviewing volunteers at the BBQ Festival, we learned that many have been volunteering there since the event started 13 years ago. Why? Because Feld asked and they'd do anything for him. That says a lot about this man, the 2017 Lake Placid Adult Volunteer of the Year. We are lucky to have him in Lake Placid and lucky to have such a good friend who knows great food when he sees it. Thank you, Dmitry Feld, for all you do. Big hug!
