Where in the world is USA Luge?

The USA Luge senior team will be competing in the third Viessmann World Cup of the season Dec. 2-3 in Altenberg, Germany.

The team has three medals for the season so far, including two Sprint Cup medals. All were won last weekend in Winterberg, Germany.

For the women, Erin Hamlin secured her place on the Olympic team with a fourth-place singles finish in Winterberg. Summer Britcher, who won a bronze in the singles race and silver in the Sprint Cup in Winterberg, earned an A tier qualification for the Olympics. And Emily Sweeney, who finished 8th in the singles and won the gold in the Sprint Cup in Winterberg, secured a B tier Olympic qualification. Sweeney is ranked third in the overall World Cup standings and first in the Sprint while Britcher is 6th (2nd in the Sprint) and Hamlin is 9th (15th in the Sprint).

For the men, Tucker West is ranked 14th in the overall standings (15th in Sprint) while Chris Mazdzer is 21st and Taylor Morris is 26th.

For the doubles, Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman are ranked 6th in the overall standings (4th in Sprint) after a fifth-place finish in the World Cup races and fourth-place finish in the Sprint Cup races in Winterberg. Jake Hyrns and Anthony Espinoza are 11th, and Justin Krewson and Andrew Sherk are 19th.

In the Team Relay World Cup, the team finished fourth in the Nov. 19 race in Innsbruck, Austria. Racing for USA Luge in that event were Erin Hamlin, Tucker West and the doubles team of Justin Krewson and Andrew Sherk.

USA Luge headquarters is located in Lake Placid.
