September 28, 2017
Lake Placid News

LAKE PLACID - The Film Society's fall season opened with "The Lost City of Z" - the true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett's two-decade search for a lost city in the Amazon - at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 and will be shown again Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Lake?Placid Center for the Arts.

The series will continue at 7 p.m. Oct. 20-21 with "A Quiet Passion" with Cynthia Nixon, who is probably best known for her work in the film and TV versions of "Sex in the City." Nixon delivers a triumphant performance as the great American poet Emily Dickinson.

On Nov. 15 and Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m., "Cezanne et Moi," a compelling drama that traces the lifelong friendship between two renowned 19th-century French artists-painter Paul Cezanne and writer Emile Zola, will be shown.

Tickets to each screening are $10 per person, and are available at the door as well as in advance from the LPCA box office at 518-523-2512 or www.lakeplacidarts.org.

The LPCA is located at 17 Algonquin Drive, just off state Route 86.
