Literacy kits for very young available through Lake Placid Public Library

September 27, 2017
Lake Placid News

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Public Library now offers "Jump Start Early Literacy Kit" backpacks to parents of very young children, through the Clinton, Essex, Franklin Library System.

The clear backpacks focus on five simple activities: talking, writing, reading, playing and singing. They include colors, nursery rhymes, ABCs, fun-with-food, weather and exercise. Each themed kit consists of items such as books, toys, games and CDs as well as an activity booklet that has additional ideas and early literacy tips.

There are six kits now in the LPPL-CEF catalog that anyone with a library card may access and request with a computer. Go to lakeplacidlibrary.org, click on the catalogue, and choose "all libraries." Another option is to come into the Lake Placid library or call 518-523-3200.
