Members of the U.S. hockey team who won the "Miracle on Ice" game against the Soviet Union during the 1980 Winter Olympics conducted their draft Monday at the Lake Placid Conference Center, selecting 55 players for the third annual Miracle on Ice Fantasy Camp.

The campers are competing on the same rink the Miracle on Ice team won its gold medal 37 years ago, the 1980 Rink in the Herb Brooks Arena, named after the 1980 coach. The players, who are staying at the High Peaks Resort, arrived in Lake Placid Sunday and leave Thursday.

In all, 31 campers have returned from previous years. Plus, eight women are taking part, which is twice as many as last year.

The 14 of the 19 surviving members of the U.S. team who are participating this year are: Neal Broten, Blue team coach; Dave Christian, Red team player; Jim Craig, goalies coach; John Harrington, White team coach; Steve Janaszak, Blue team player; Mark Johnson, Red team player; Ken Morrow, Gold team coach; Rob McClanahan, Gold team player; Mike Eruzione, Blue team assistant coach; Mark Pavelich, White team player; Mike Ramsey, Red team coach; Buzz Schneider, White team player; Eric Strobel, assistant commissioner; and Mark Wells, commissioner. In addition, the 1980 team's assistant coach Craig Patrick is participating as the general manager, and the team's athletic trainer Gary Smith is helping for his first year.
