LAKE PLACID - Members of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team conducted their draft Monday, March 27, at the Lake Placid Conference Center, selecting 55 players at the annual Miracle on Ice Fantasy Camp.

The players will compete on four teams this week on the same rink the Miracle on Ice team won its gold medal 37 years ago, the 1980 Rink in the Herb Brooks Arena, named after the 1980 coach. Following the draft, campers practiced for their games, which will be held Tuesday and Wednesday. The medal rounds will be held Wednesday afternoon and will be followed by a medal ceremony. Campers, who are staying at the High Peaks Resort, leave Lake Placid on Thursday.

In all, 31 campers have returned from previous years. Plus, eight women are taking part, which is twice as many as last year.
