After competing in the sixth Viessmann World Cup of the season on Jan. 14-15 in Sigulda, Latvia, the USA Luge senior team is preparing for the 47th FIL World Championships, held next weekend in Igls, Austria on Jan. 27-29.
The team has 10 medals for the season so far.
For the women, Erin Hamlin is ranked fourth in the overall Viessmann World Cup standings with two gold medals while Emily Sweeney is ranked fourth with two silver medals. Summer Britcher is ninth.
For the men, Tucker West is ranked fifth in the overall standings with two gold medals while Chris Mazdzer and Taylor Morris are 10th and 16th, respectively.
For doubles, Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman are ranked third in the overall standings with a silver and a bronze.
In the Team Relay, the team is ranked second.
In the Sprint World Cup, Hamlin is ranked second, Mazdzer is ranked third, and Mortensen and Terdiman are ranked third.
USA Luge headquarters is located in Lake Placid.
