Kathryn B. (Sears) Barry

Kathryn Beatrice Sears Barry, 92, passed peacefully at the Uihlein Living Center in Lake Placid on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, where she had been a resident for the past year.

She was born in Keeseville on April 1, 1924, the youngest of Mary McGee Sears and Waterman Sears' 14 children.

She married John D. "Jack" Barry on July 2, 1943, at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid.

As a young person, Kathryn was a waitress in several local restaurants. She worked side-by-side with Jack at Gull Rock Camp and Camp Woodland on Lake Placid Lake. She was very involved in her Catholic community of St. Agnes parish. She was also very active in the Lake Placid community including the Pee Wee Association, the American Legion and Auxiliary, 40 & 8, and was a spearhead for March of Dimes collections at the hockey games at the arena. She was also active in the political scene with her husband and the 1980 Winter Olympics. She and Jack made several trips to Europe during Olympic preparations.

She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2007 and son Bruce Daniel in 2004.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda and husband James Moscatello of Lake Placid, and Debra and partner Roger Foster of Saranac Lake. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery. The Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate.
