Legion should oppose Trump

September 29, 2016

To the editor:

Commander Tom Both:

This evening (Monday, Sept. 26) is the first debate between two candidates for the office of president. My personal opinion is that neither one is fully qualified for the leadership of the free world.

But being what it is, we must vote for the candidate deemed best qualified.

I have voted Republican most of my life, with a few exceptions. With this election, I feel that I should make every effort to see that Donald J. Trump should not be elected to the office of president.

What disqualifies him:

1. Calling Sen. Capt. John McCain (who was a prisoner of war, kept captive more than four years) not a war hero, because he was captured.

2. Not respecting the ultimate sacrifice of Capt. Kahn.

Both war heros, both American veterans.

As I had previously said, Marcy Post should go on record with national American Legion headquarters, calling out Donald J. Trump as not qualified to seek the office of president, without exception.
