Re: "Time for NY to invest in the future of the Olympic Movement" published May 6.

Lake Placid is truly one of New York's crown jewels, offering unparalleled natural beauty and some of the best outdoor recreation opportunities in the nation.

This state is committed to its future growth and success, which is why we continue to invest in the region through the state Olympic Regional Development Authority.

Since 2011, the state has dedicated over $43 million in upgrades and improvements to Olympic facilities in Lake Placid. And that's only one piece of the pie.

The state has also met with USA Luge and local partners to ensure this vital organization remains in the region for years to come. We know the importance of preserving the Adirondack Park's legacy of Olympic gold. And we believe that keeping USA Luge in Lake Placid is crucial to achieving that goal.

If USA Luge moves forward on plans to stay in Lake Placid, the state will commit to increasing funding for local marketing and tourism, as well as provide additional state dollars for capital improvements at ORDA facilities.

In Lake Placid and across the Adirondacks, it's critical we continue to generate robust economic growth, create well-paying jobs and attract top talent and businesses for decades to come.

More than that, we must work to inspire the next generation of Olympians in New York - and that means ensuring continued enjoyment of these extraordinary facilities, and keeping the momentum and enthusiasm moving forward for residents, tourists and visitors alike.

We are confident the state's far-reaching investments in the Lake Placid will do just that.
