Explore the local food scene at EAT ADK Restaurant Week

May 12, 2016
Editorial , Lake Placid News

When the inaugural EAT ADK Restaurant Week debuts Friday, May 13, the menu selections will show a diversity of culinary options that is typical of the dining scene in Lake Placid, and we hope the event will become part of the food revolution in the Adirondack Park.

More than two dozen restaurants are participating, and they reflect a variety of three-course dinner menu selections that highlight the creativity of local chefs. It will give diners a unique opportunity to sample the tastes of Lake Placid at fixed price points of $15, $25, $35 and $55.

We have no doubt that this event will achieve its main goal of showcasing the Olympic Village's restaurants to residents and visitors.

We applaud the efforts of the many volunteers, businesses and students who made this special event possible.

Spearheaded by a volunteer subcommittee from the Lake Placid Business Association, EAT ADK Restaurant Week is sponsored by Coca Cola, the Lake Placid Business Association, Paul Smith's College, Renzi Food Service, and Saratoga Olive Oil. ROOST designed and maintained the event's website, and Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Lake Placid News provided marketing assistance and organizational capacity. Dozens of volunteers attended regular meetings, and EAT ADK Committee Chairwoman and Great Adirondack Brewing Company Brewery Manager Kelsey Torrance-Cassidy met with restaurant and hotel managers, who helped plan the event.

EAT ADK Restaurant Week was the brainchild of Paul Smith's College students, led by assistant professor Kelly Cerialo. They studied restaurant weeks in other communities, such as Saratoga Springs, and helped create an event that was tailored to the Adirondack region.

Kudos to all involved. We encourage everyone to check out the special events - happening daily - and sample the special EAT ADK menus at the various establishments in Lake Placid. Learn more at www.eatadk.com.
