John D. ‘Jack’ Dreissigacker

John D. "Jack" Dreissigacker passed away in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015.

Jack was born to Philip "Harry" and Ethel Dreissigacker in Bay City, Long Island on Dec. 20,1919.

In September of 1952, he married Joan Eagan, in Niagara Falls. Together, they set out on their 63 years of adventure, devotion and love for each other. They moved to Wilmington with their infant son John in 1953. It was there that they built two homes and raised five wonderful children.

Jack is survived by his adoring and devoted wife, Joan; five children: John (Heather) Dreissigacker, of Wilmington, Phil Dreissigacker (his partner Tony Wilson) of Breckenridge, Colorado, Susan (Bill) Martin of Schuylerville, Doug (Pam) Dreissigacker of Wilmington, Patricia (Chris) Gallagher of Wilmington; seven grandchildren: Laura (Jay) Hooker, of Wilmington, Julia (Fran) Daby of Lake Placid, Travis (Bianca) Martin of Mechanicville, Cassidy Martin of Troy, and Kate, Jack and Aurora Gallagher of Wilmington; four great-grandsons: Sam and Hayden Hooker of Wilmington, Eben Daby of Lake Placid, Jaxson Martin of Mechanicville; one sister, Irene Brimlow, of Clifton Park; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Phil Dreissigacker of Orange, Connecticut.

Jack loved and adored his family and his Whiteface Mountain more than life itself. They were all that he ever wanted or needed to enjoy and complete his life. He did us all proud.

There will be no funeral or calling hours.

In lieu of Flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Jack's memory to a foundation or a charity of your choice.
