Village taking too long to fix sidewalk along Sentinel Road

October 29, 2015
Lake Placid News

To the editor:

I am a concerned Lake Placid resident. I own a business on Sentinel Road, and the sidewalk on this particular road is hazardous to pedestrians. It seems as though the village has overlooked the conditions of the sidewalks for less important beautification projects. For example, the village is spending money on the park where the Chubb River dam used to be. This is all well and good, but shouldn't the village be making sure the sidewalks are adequate for citizens and tourists to walk on first? It has been at least two years since the sidewalks have been in need of repair. It may be hard to see the damage when you drive by, and they may "look" acceptable, but to appreciate how bad they are, one must walk down them. Please fix this problem, so that people don't hurt themselves while walking down the sidewalk.
