Solar power more affordable

October 22, 2015
Lake Placid News

To the editor:

Solarize Tri-Lakes is nearing the end of its five-month campaign to bring clean, renewable solar energy to the Tri-Lakes region. Nearly 50 residents or small businesses have signed up to install solar to date, and now there is an extra incentive for lower-income residents.

On Oct. 9, NYSERDA announced a new program to expand access to solar energy to households most in need of electricity cost reductions. For income-eligible households (earning less than 80 percent of local median income), Affordable Solar doubles NY-Sun incentives for residential solar projects, lowering for the homeowner the total upfront cost of the solar installation. The Solarize Tri-Lakes discounted price of $3.15 per watt becomes $2.15 per watt (whereas $2.65 is the price for ineligible households). Additional information on this newly created program can be found at www.ny-sun.ny.gov/get-solar/affordable-solar, or ask one of the Apex Solar sales reps by signing up at www.solarizetrilakes.com.

There are only a few weeks left until Solarize Tri-Lakes' Nov. 1 deadline. Contracts must be signed by this date to qualify for the campaign's discounted rate and to ensure installation before the end of 2015. To sign up for a free, no-obligation solar assessment for your home or small business, visit www.solarizetrilakes.com or call 518-891-5212.

Sincerely,

Nancy Bernstein
