Dr. Theodore ‘Ted’ Dashnaw

Theodore Edward Dashnaw, 77, of El Dorado Hills, California, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 at his home.

Ted was born in Lake Placid on Dec. 1, 1937. He graduated from Lake Placid High School, class of 1955, where he excelled in many sports activities, played clarinet in the high school band, sang in the boys glee club and, with many of his friends, worked and partied summers in the parking lot at the North Pole in Wilmington.

His cousin Rod summed up these early years. "Ted was an All-American boy. An excellent student, class leader, star athlete in football, basketball, baseball, skiing and speed skating; talented in music and drama, and so popular that he was elected king of the Winter Carnival by all students in grades 7 to 12. He was also named to Who's Who in Colleges and Universities. He continued to be an avid golfer throughout his adult life."

His education continued on to receive a bachelor's degree in physical education from Cortland State University, a master's degree in physical therapy from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a Ph.D. from Columbia Pacific University.

He began his career at Southern Pacific Hospital in San Francisco in 1962 and continued his successful private practice in orthopedic and sports therapy in San Jose, California for more than 25 years.

He was married to Cherie (Kleszyk) Dashnaw on Sept. 16, 1961. They were happily married for 54 years and lived in San Jose, Morgan Hill and Eldorado Hills, California and traveled extensively throughout the world over the years.

Ted is survived by his wife Cherie; three children, Michael Dashnaw and his wife Trish, Teri Fadelli and her husband Ron, and Lori Timmerman; seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Anthony, Daniel, Connor, Dalton, Nick and Ronnie; his brother Alexander Dashnaw of Bloomingdale; and his cousins Beverly (Dashnaw, Madden) Waters of New York City and Frederick Rodney Dashnaw of Phoenix, Arizona.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Nels (Le Roux) Dashnaw of Lake Placid, his grandparents, A.A. Le Roux and Nettie (Wilkins) Le Roux, Frederick and Ida (Flagg) Dashnaw, his stepmother Gwen Dashnaw of Catalina Island, California, and his brother Delancy Frederick Dashnaw.
