TROY - Mrs. Vivian Auslander Mendelsohn, 87, of Troy and formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.

Vivian was born in Brooklyn, the daughter of Bernard and Kate (Cottler) Auslander. She graduated from Midwood High School and Brooklyn College.

After marrying, Vivian stayed at home to raise her family. After many years and several moves, Vivian and her family finally settled in Wilmington, where she loved the quiet beauty of the mountains and relaxed pace. Along with her husband, Vivian owned and ran the Whiteface Market in Wilmington for 20 years before retiring.
