Help Lake Placid Central School Dec. 10

December 5, 2014
Editorial , Lake Placid News

Lake Placid Central School District officials are inviting interested residents to participate in a new round of strategic planning during their implementation meeting next week.

The meeting will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the Lake Placid Middle/High School Library Media Center. While this should have been an evening meeting to accommodate more people, we feel it is imperative that the public participates in guiding the future of public education in the Olympic Village. Lake Placid News staff even helped with the district's community outreach goals this past summer. We think it's worth taking some time off during this busy holiday season to attend.

School district officials began the district's strategic planning process a year ago, and they've made a lot of progress.

The process began with inviting school and community members to focus sessions to discuss varies aspects of the district. It was followed by individual task forces that brainstormed strategic plans and goals that they would like to achieve within the school district. Now officials are ready to implement these plans to reach their goals.

During the meeting participants will work toward the next steps which include the following:

Prioritizing activities

Brainstorming any additions to the strategic plans

Identifying duplications

Combining and condensing duplicated activities

Considering the impact to the budget

Planning for the final report to the Board of Education
