Lake Placid News

LAKE PLACID - A week-long Chamber Music Seminar presented by the Lake Placid Institute for the Arts and Humanities will be held next week, Aug. 11 to 15.

String players and pianists will meet for six to eight hours daily at Lake Placid Middle/High School to rehearse and undergo lessons.

An hour-long faculty concert on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. will be held at the Northwoods Inn's Cabin Grill. Works by Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and other notable composers will be played.

Students from around the country will give two informal performances on Friday, Aug. 15, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the same venue.

"It's our love for chamber music that brings us together, but it's also the lure of Lake Placid and its breathtaking beauty," Artistic Director Linda Rosenthal said.

The performances are free to attend, but donations to the Lake Placid Institute are welcomed.
