Upset over cemetery vandalism

July 25, 2014
Lake Placid News

To the editor:

After speaking to my mom today, Esther Jones, I have never been so disgusted and ashamed as to the events that recently occurred in Lake Placid.

There was a man who lived to be 97 years old. A WWII veteran, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to all of Lake Placid, who passed away in September 2013. After being married for 68 years, was laid to rest in St. Agnes Cemetery. That was my dad, F. Paul Jones.

A daily visit to the cemetery is how our family has been coping with such a huge loss. Flowers, solar lights and many special trinkets were placed on his grave.

Whoever you were who stole the solar lights from my dad's grave, it was as if my mom has lost my dad all over again. Shame on you!

But my dad never had a bad word to say about anybody. ... He forgives you.

I love you and miss you, Dad, than you will ever know.
