LAKE PLACID - Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the world's first community foundation, Adirondack Foundation has launched a new fund that will increase grants to Adirondack communities.
The Generous Acts Fund directs funding toward three programs: Small and Significant grants, Collaborations grants and Big Impact projects. Adirondack Foundation will award up to $45,000 through these programs this year.
"For the first time in our history, organizations will be able to apply directly to Adirondack Foundation for funding," said Cali Brooks, executive director of Adirondack Foundation. "This expands our grantmaking and offers valuable resources to the nonprofits and community groups that add to the quality of life in the Adirondack region."
Two programs are currently accepting applications online at www.generousact.org: Small and Significant and Collaborations. Nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations, schools and municipalities are eligible to apply. Big Impact projects will be initiated by Adirondack Foundation; this program does not have a public application component.
Small and Significant grants range in size from $500 to $2,000. Organizations are encouraged to use Adirondack Foundation's crowdfunding website - www.adirondackgives.org - in conjunction with applications to Small & Significant.
Collaborations grants range from $5,000 to $10,000 and will be targeted to organizations that are working together to solve problems and meet opportunities.
