CHAZY - The Lake Placid baseball team continued its late-season surge Tuesday with an 11-1 victory over Chazy in the semifinals of the Section VII, Class D tournament.
The Blue Bombers earned a spot in Thursday's championship game at Chip Cummings Field in Plattsburgh, where they will face Moriah at 4:30 p.m. Moriah punched its ticket to the final with a 16-3 win over Johnsburg on Tuesday.
Lake Placid sophomore pitcher Chris Williams shut down the Chazy offense, striking out 10, walking three and giving up just three hits over six innings of work. Chazy's only run came in the second inning when Dylan Doran brought in Alex LaPierre on a single.

The Blue Bombers provided plenty of offense to support Williams' strong effort on the mound. Tucker Angelopoulos racked up four hits - two singles, a double and a triple - for three RBI. Kamm Cassidy and Connor Preston each had two singles and a triple, while Ryan Damp had three hits and Alex Brandes hit a double.
Lake Placid had 17 total hits as a team. The Blue Bombers scored three in the second inning, two in the third and fourth, one in the sixth and three more in the seventh.
Shane McNierney closed out the game on the mound for Lake Placid, which advanced to the semifinals with an 11-2 victory over Wells on Friday.
Lake Placid now has a chance to repeat its Class D sectional title from a year ago. The Bombers came into the tournament as the No. 6 seed. Chazy was No. 2 and Moriah is No. 5.
