Of course leaders are mixed on dissolving village of Lake Placid - LPN headline, p.3, April 25, 2014. No leader wants to dissolve himself!
Town Supervisor Roby Politi was not against the idea but questioned the amount of support for such a move. Village Mayor Craig Randall said, "I can't say it's a likely event."
Find out how WE feel, gentlemen. Have a village/town referendum (unofficial or official) ASAP so you have a citizens' mandate to proceed or not with a "Town of Lake
Dissolution of the village has been kicking around for almost 50 years. I remember when Fred Dennin brought it up in the late 1960s. His son ,Greg, also an attorney, mentioned that dissolution of the village can't help but bring about long run savings and eliminate current duplication of services.
"It's common sense," he affirmed at the comprehensive plan draft meeting last week.
Is not half a century of talking enough? I appeal to our leaders to let members of both the village AND the town vote NOW and see what your constituents say.
