Lake Placid News

To the editor:

On March 10, FRIENDS, the parent-teacher organization at the Lake Placid Elementary School, held our fifth annual Cabin Fever Dinner and Silent Auction. We enjoyed a wonderful evening of dinner and bidding on auction items, with all of the proceeds going to enhance the education of LPES students. We would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for all of their support that helped make this event a huge success.

For chairing and organizing the dinner, we would like to thank Bambi Pedu. For preparing a delicious meal, we would like to thank Carl Bowen and the Mountain Lake Academy student team. For their generous donations of food items we would like to thank The Cowboy, Crowne Plaza Resort, Delta Blue, Generations, Renzi Food Corp, Stewart's, Thomas Shipman Youth Center and all of the parents who baked brownies.

For chairing the silent auction, we would like to thank Ashleah Mayberry. Thank you to the following businesses for their generous donations: Adirondack Awards, Adirondack Flying Service, Adirondack Museum, Anita Harjulla, The Boathouse Restaurant, Bowl Winkles, Cake Placid, Craig Wood, Delta Blue, Fallen Arch, Fanfare, Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, Green Goddess, Gretchen Lansing and Healing Elements Massage, Happy Campers, Hurley Brothers, the Kahkonen family, Kathy Pedu, Lake Placid Club Golf Course, Lake Placid Fire Department, Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, Mary Michelfelder, Memories 4 U, Origami Owl, Owl's Head Rustic Furniture, Palace Theatre, Pampered Chef, Shelburne Museum, Terry Robards Wine and Liquors, The Spa at the Mirror Lake Inn, Two Harts, Tri-City Valley Cats, Tri-Lakes Youth Lacrosse program, the Vermont Lake Monsters, Villa Vespa, The Wild Center and Usborne Books.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to following individuals and businesses for their assistance with the Adirondack Chair Silent Auction: Coakley High Peaks Ace Hardware for selling the chairs to us at a reduced cost, the students and staff at Mountain Lake Academy for assembling the chairs, Steven Brewster for priming and painting the chairs, Crystal Martin for designing the chairs, and all of the parent volunteers who helped the students decorate the chairs.

A special thank-you to Mrs. Michelfelder's fifth-grade Leadership Group: Dylan Bashaw, Georgia Bickford, John Brownell, Lydia Bullock, Samantha Clark, Warren Clark, Grace Crawford, Max Gole, Joose Kahkonen, Madison Kostoss, Van Ledger, Marley Levenson, Raven Preston, Sarah Sheridan and Katie Villani. Thank you also to Bill and Elisa Begor and Royce Lawrence for their time and help, and all the LPES staff and parent volunteers. We couldn't do it without you!

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended. Through your support, we will be able to fund educational field trips and activities throughout the year to benefit the students of LPES. We feel privileged to live in a community that is so supportive of the education of our children.

Sincerely,
