Concert raised almost $2,500 for food pantries

March 13, 2014
Lake Placid News

To the editor:

Once again our local food pantries have benefitted from the amazing efforts of North Country musicians. We can never thank them enough for their efforts, time and talent. We are not only grateful for the money and food donated as a result of their annual concert, Musicians Unite for Local Food Pantries, but also for the great music heard throughout the day. It was evident from audience participation how much it was enjoyed by all. We are so fortunate to live among so many gifted, caring people.

Three panties were able to share in the donations. In addition to food, monetary donations amounted to almost $2,500 (although in the enthusiasm of the night of the concert, amounts of $3,000 and $4,000 were reported prior to the final tally). I apologize to all for this misunderstanding. It was a great event that will continue to benefit many through the coming weeks, and at this writing, contributions continue to come in.

Thank you, musicians, organizers, businesses, restaurants and concert-goers for a truly great day!
