Lake Placid village board to change time of admin meetings

December 18, 2013

LAKE PLACID - The village board plans to move the time of its regular administrative meetings in 2014.

During their Dec. 16 meeting, village board members approved a meeting schedule for the first half of 2014. The new schedule keeps regular board meetings on the first and third Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m., except when it is moved to a Tuesday for a holiday.

But administrative meetings, during which much of the board's discussion on various topics takes place, are set to be moved to 3 p.m. every second and fourth Tuesday. They used to be held at 9 a.m. those days.

Mayor Craig Randall explained at the board's first meeting of the month that the time would be changed to accommodate Trustee Jason Leon, who works as a teacher's aide at the elementary school and can't make it to morning meetings.

Randall said the new time may make it easier for the village's department heads to make it to administrative meetings as well.

Village board members use the meetings to discuss issues in depth and check in with department heads.

Randall was not at Monday night's meeting because he had a flight home delayed.
