I am surprised that the former Lake Placid News Editor Rich Rosentreter was dismissed so summarily and that none of his talented and dedicated contributions during his multi-year leadership were even noted.
Lake Placid News was awarded journalism prizes for front page layout, stories and specialized articles annually during his tenure. His own dramatic photos often enhanced its pages.
He also established excellent relationships with community leaders and members who were eager to give him news of events of interest to area readers.
Lake Placid deserves a community newspaper with a resident editor to be "in the know" and ready to capture immediate happenings. The current office on Mill Hill looks abandoned and empty. We can't stop in to talk to the editor for guidance and/or share our ideas for news or unusual stories.
Former editor and journalist Rich Rosentreter deserves so much better from his employers. We will miss him!
