PLATTSBURGH - Lake Placid sisters Nina and Gabby Armstrong turned in top-10 finishes to lead area runners in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference championships at SUNY Plattsburgh on Oct. 26.
Nina, a junior, placed seventh overall in the girls race and Gabby, a freshman, was ninth.
Saranac Lake runners also found success in the girls race as sophomore Johanna Mohrs was 12th and junior Sophie Theron was one position back in 13th.

Seton Catholic's girls swept the top three spots on their way to a team victory, while Beekmantown took the boys team title, edging Saranac Central in a tiebreaker.
Margaret Champagne of Seton Catholic won the girls individual title with a finish time of 18 minutes, 25 seconds. Teammates Melissa Whyman and Ashley Leta ran to respective runner-up and third-place results. Nina Armstrong finished in 20:02 and Gabby Armstrong crossed the line in 20:11.
Mohrs turned in a 20:30 finish and Theron was four seconds off that pace. Both Red Storm runners were honored as CVAC all-stars for their performances.
Saranac Lake finished fourth in the girls race with 88 points. The Knights won with 40 points, Peru was second with 50 points and Saranac Central rounded out the top three, finishing with 77 points.
Also for Saranac Lake in the girls race: Grace Sullivan was 20th in 21:18, Jackie Garso placed 27th in 21:57, Jacinda Riggs finished 31st in 22:31, Caroline Dodd placed 42nd in 24:28 and Morgan Paul placed 52nd in 25:38.
In addition to the Armstrongs, the Blue Bombers had two more runners in the girls race as Erin Skufca finished 45th in 24:57 and Briana Roy was 61st in 28:13.
Junior Zane Pelleteri of Saranac Lake and Karl Schulz of Lake Placid ran to respective 12th- and 13th-place finishes to lead area runners in the boys race, which was won by Plattsburgh's Jeriqho Gadway in 15:22. Evan Page of Seton Catholic was second in 15:58 and Saranac Central's Zach LePage placed third in 16:16.
Pelleteri turned in a finish of 17:16 and Schulz was three seconds back. Both runners were named CVAC all-stars.
Beekmantown and Saranac Central both finished with 58 points, and the Eagles were awarded the team win based on a higher finish among each team's sixth-place runner. Ticonderoga was third in the boys team competition.
Also for Saranac Lake: Adam Branch was 61st in 19:44, Nate Miller placed 72nd in 20:43, Ryan Murray was 81st in 21:07, Chris Muguria was one position back in 21:22, and Haakon Pedersen finished in 100th place in 23:30.
The Blue Bombers boys also had some other solid showings in the 109-runner boys field. For Lake Placid: Forest Ledger was 27th in 18:12, Trent White finished 29th in 18:13, Scott Schulz placed 35th in 18:40, Nick Saulpaugh was 40th in 18:47 and Curtis Rissberger placed 51st in 19:13.
Lake Placid finished fifth in the boys team competition with 138.6 points.
