CHAMPLAIN - The Lake Placid boys soccer team opened its season last weekend in the NCCS/Pizza Hut Cougars Classic and came away with a win and a loss.
The Blue Bombers dropped their first game 1-0 against Peru, then came back with a 4-0 victory over AuSable Valley in the consolation match.
Ryan Damp scored two goals against AuSable Valley, while Miles Lussi and Andrew Meister each contributed a goal and an assist.

Damp scored the game's first goal at the 25:02 mark of the first half on a pass from Lussi. Damp gave the Blue Bombers a two-goal lead 12 minutes into the second half and Lussi and Meister rounded out the scoring with goals later in the half.
Lake Placid outshot AuSable Valley 16-4.
Against Peru, the teams battle to a scoreless tie until Jacob Dick broke through for a goal 12 minutes into the second half.
Chris Kordziel did all he could in net for Lake Placid, limiting the Indians to just one goal despite a 21-7 shot advantage. Sweeper Lucas Strack was also credited with a strong game.
Lake Placid won its first boys soccer sectional championship in school history last year, then lost to Hoosick Falls in the Class C state quarterfinals.
