Spirited Tennis League wraps up season

LAKE PLACID - The Spirited Tennis League playoffs held true to form as the top seeds in each division were able to bring home championship trophies at the Whiteface Tennis Center.

Alan Beideck and LeeAnne Baker captured the mixed doubles title with a 6-0 victory over Beth and Ron Edgley. Tammy La Lande and Wayne Feinberg took third place, followed by Bob and Sam Mensink, Kathy Pfohl and Steve Short, Judy and Bill Borzilleri, Judy McLean and John Wilkins, and Dave Wisniewski and Suzanne Quaintance.

In the club league championship, Elizabeth and Paul Trachte downed Kathy Pfohl and Kyle Woodlief in a close one-setter. Jean and Bob Dusek, Judy McLean and Bill Borzilleri, Cathy Blazer and Hayden Young and Bill and Chris Barnes rounded out the final standings.

Pam Smith and Tina Eigenman swept the finals with a win over Judy Borzilleri and Betsy Senkowski in the ladies doubles league No. 1. Kathy Pfohl and Georgia Sokol took third place, followed by Judy McLean and Madeline LaHart.

The ladies doubles league No. 2 used a round-robin format throughout the season and season-leading Linda Moore continued her winning ways to take first place. She was followed by Lori Fitzgerald, Janice Williamson and Gwyn-Anne Bissonette.

Fall league play has begun at the Whiteface Tennis Center, with ladies doubles and mixed doubles. For more information, call 523-2551.
