Frances Helen Goldberger Sheft, 95, died peacefully Tuesday, June 18 at the Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake.
She enjoyed a healthy year there and several productive years at the Farrar Home in Malone We thank everyone who knew and cared for Fran for the love and friendship they shared with her.
Fran loved to read, walk, travel, play card games, knit, and listen and sing to music. There was always a song for everyone and anyone.
Frances was born in Brooklyn Sept. 2, 1917, the third child of her immigrant parents. She lived and worked in metropolitan New York until February 1945 when she married Dr. Charles T. Sheft, her husband of 45 years.
They lived in Orange, N.J. for a short time and settled in Verona, N.J. where they raised two sons and enjoyed many activities with family and friends. In 1989, Fran and Chuck moved to Lake Worth, Fla. Fran enjoyed 10 years of Florida living before moving to northern New York to be closer to her family.
Frances is survived by her sons: Richard and his family of Laura, Trevor and Emily Sheft; and Steven and his family of Sharon, Kevin and Kelly Sheft; one great-grandson, Anderson Steven Tuten; and her niece Helene G. Goldberger; as well as several extended Sheft family members.
Fran was predeceased in 1990 by her husband Charles.
