There's nothing wrong with bringing in the new - change is constant - and that is the case after this year's village election.
Scott Monroe once again brings new blood to the Lake Placid village board, and will now join Jason Leon, Peter Holdereid, victorious incumbent Art Devlin and Mayor Craig Randall, who is entering his second term in the leadership post.
Congratulations on your new post in public office Scott, and may your time as a trustee be productive and rewarding.
Hats off to David Jones, whose bid for office was unsuccessful, for his interest in serving the village again.
And best wishes to Bill Hulshoff, who will serve another term as village justice.
Serving in public office is pretty much a thankless job. You're in the public eye, get the blame for either action or inaction - and you can never keep everyone happy.
That said, this "new board" will take some time to acclimate themselves with each other, but eventually they will have to work as a team - not meant to be a play on any campaign slogan - to do what is best for the Lake Placid community.
It's good for board members to disagree on issues and have a mix of opinions, but hopefully their decisions will continue to move Lake Placid ahead toward a prosperous future.
Good luck to Scott and congratulations Art. And good luck to the village board in their continued effort to make this community a great place to live.
