Old-timey ski rendezvous at Cascade

LAKE PLACID - Mike Sheridan crossed the finish line in 27 minutes, 18 seconds to take first place in the men's class of the second annual Wood-n-Ski Rendezvous 5-kilometer race March 9 at Cascade Ski Center.

The event required racers to use vintage equipment, such as wooden skis, bamboo poles and other vintage apparel.

Brad Raffery took second place in the men's class with a time of 27:58 and Andy Fox was third in 28:47.

Alissa Rafferty was the top women's finisher, clocking a time of 31:37. Lisa Nalie was second in 36:22 and Kay VanWort was third in 43:19.

An awards ceremony was held in the lodge following the races, with musical entertainment supplied by the Barn Cats.
