To the editor,
The Garden Club of Lake Placid would like to publicly acknowledge the contribution of the following businesses to the Triangle Garden opposite the Horse Show grounds on state Route 73.
Paradox Lodge, Liquids & Solids, Lake Placid Pub & Brewery, Generations Restaurant, The Cottage and Interlaken Inn all eagerly underwrote an hour work session from May through October by inviting volunteers back after to their respective establishments for complimentary hors d'oeuvres and discounted beverages.
The prospect of a social hour after our toil boosted the number of workers. With an average of almost 13 people for each of six sessions, we were able to accomplish our goals of planting and weeding in only one session per month. The total hours working as a group are 76 hours for the season!
An attractive, colorful Triangle Garden could thus greet visitors and residents alike upon entry to and exit from Lake Placid.
In addition, we do have fun!
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the North Elba Park District for removing our monthly pile of weeds, for cutting the grass and circumscribing the mounds with a ring of mulch. Of course, we are grateful to you for the fine press coverage of the Lake Placid News.
Thank you sponsors, press, park district workers and faithful volunteers.
Triangle Garden chairman,
Garden Club of Lake Placid
