LAKE PLACID - A search is under way for a local man who was last seen early Sunday morning.

Village police are seeking the public's help as they look for Seth A. Kilburn, 34, of Lake Placid. He was last seen leaving Wiseguys bar on School Street in the village of Lake Placid between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Sunday. Police said he is considered a missing person.

Officer Charles Potthast said that Kilburn's parents, who live in Lake Placid, reported him missing 12:30 a.m. today. He said police believe he was on foot when he was last seen.

"He was by himself when he left," Potthast said. "He went in an unknown direction."

Kilburn is a white male, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 195 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, according to a press release issued by the police department. He was last seen wearing a blue and white striped polo shirt and tan or khaki colored shorts. He also wears glasses, police said.

Potthast said state Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers were searching wooded areas in Lake Placid as of this morning.

"We're doing checks with the bank," Potthast said, "and interviews with people who may have seen him."

Police are also using social media outlets like Facebook to collect information about Kilburn's whereabouts, Potthast said.

"We're trying to find anybody who has seen him after 1 a.m. Sunday and point us in a direction," he said.

Anyone with information regarding Kilburn's whereabouts is asked to contact police at 518-523-3306.
