LAKE PLACID - Lake Placid's Fourth of July parade organizers are seeking entries for this year's event, which takes place at 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 4.
The parade line-up will take place starting at 4:30 p.m. on Cummins Road. The parade will proceed up Main Street, passing the judging areas at Mid's Park and Select Sotheby's International Realty, and end at the High Peaks Resort. The theme, as usual, is Independence Day.
"Last year's parade was judged to be the best in recent memory by many in attendance, and we're looking forward to even more participation for this year's event", said Sue Cameron, events and communications manager for the Lake Placid CVB.

The CVB will again be the lead organization for staging of the parade as well as the annual "Set the Night to Music" fireworks that evening at 9:45 p.m.
The organizers encourage one and all to enter the parade, as it's been dubbed "the people's parade" for many years. This year the organizers hope to welcome back the Adirondack Bugs (anyone with a VW Bug); the Mini Cooper Brigade; Kids on Trikes and Bikes; International Heritage group, which would include anyone from a foreign country who'd like their native land represented by carrying a flag in the parade; former Olympians; and any other group interested.
There are many other groups and organizations participating every year and it's hoped they'll return as well. The International Heritage group participants would need to call ahead so that appropriate national flags can be on hand for them to carry.
Bands and musicians are also welcome to join the parade.
Those who would like to enter the parade, call the Visitors Bureau at 523-2445 and ask for Kathy Pfohl (ext. 110) or Sue Cameron (ext. 107) to sign up. It is not mandatory that you sign up in advance, but it does help in staging.
