Cyclist injured in Route 73 crash

LAKE PLACID - A cyclist lost control and suffered injuries in an accident on state Route 73 over the weekend.

Ray Brook-based state police said Robin L. Blosser, 46, of Greenland, N.Y., was riding with a group of cyclists when she lost control on uneven pavement while crossing the bridge near the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex. Blosser briefly lost consciousness and suffered a minor concussion, as well as abrasions to the head, hands and left shoulder, police said.

The accident was reported at 8:14 a.m. Saturday. The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded with two trucks and 10 members. Firefighters closed the road briefly while personnel from the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service treated Blosser. She was transported to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for treatment. A call to AMC wasn't immediately returned this morning.

Lake Placid village police also assisted at the scene.

State police said no motor vehicles were in the vicinity of the group of cyclists when the accident occurred. Firefighters were back in service by 8:32 a.m.
