LAKE PLACID - A local band has organized a concert to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The 3 Amigos Band of Tupper Lake announced recently that seven area bands will team up for Musicians Unite, an all day benefit concert on May 26 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid. Proceeds from the event will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides aid to injured service members.

"I just can't say enough about the cause here," said Bill Foley, who plays guitar and harmonica for the 3 Amigos Band. "Number one, we're trying to raise awareness. Number two is to raise donations for our wounded men and women who are coming back post 9/11."

Foley, who served in the U.S. Coast Guard, said many returning service members face significant financial hurdles in addition to injuries suffered in American's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"With causes like this ... we feel honored to be able to contribute," Foley said.

The 3 Amigos Band also includes Bob Mann on guitar and vocals, and Larry Reandeau on guitar and banjo. Several friends of the band will also play at the benefit concert: Gordy Sheer, drums, Derek Lavoie, bass, and Pat Mann, guitar, vocals and banjo.

The concert's lineup includes 3 Amigos Band and Friends, The Deaf, Dumb and Blind Band, Joyous Noise, Le Groove, Spring Street, Larry Stone and the Stone Ground Express, and Heidi Little and the Lavish.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, or in advance at the Olympic Center box office, as well as Nice and Easy in Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake.
