SARANAC - The Saranac baseball team scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning to down Lake Placid 6-5 in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game Monday.
With the score knotted at 5-5, Jake Liberty reached base on a walk then came around to score after a throwing error. The Blue Bombers were unable to scratch out a run in the top of the seventh and had to settle for the loss.
It was the ninth win in a row for the Chiefs, who improved to 9-2 in league games and 9-6 overall. Lake Plaic is 2-8 in league games and 3-11 overall.
The Blue Bombers got on the board early with three runs in the top of the first inning and another in the third. Saranac responded with two runs in the first and two more in the third.
Ryan Meyer had two singles and a double and Daryl Breir added two singles to lead Lake Placid offensively. J.P. Morrison pitched a complete game in the losing effort.
Kasey Favreau had three hits and Brady Burleigh had two to pace the Saranac attack.
Lake Placid outhit the Chiefs 8-7.
Franklin Academy 9, Lake Placid 7
LAKE PLACID - The Franklin Academy baseball team downed Lake Placid for the second time this season with a 9-7 non-league victory Saturday, May 12 at the North Elba Show Grounds.
Lake Placid fell to 3-10 on the season with the loss, while Franklin Academy improved to 9-2.
Peru 8, Lake Placid 4
LAKE PLACID - The Peru baseball team scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning Thursday on the way to an 8-4 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory over Lake Placid.
Only four of the Indians' eight runs were earned.
Mario Gonzalez had two hits and J.P. Morrison tripled to lead the Blue Bombers offensively. Ryan Damp and R.J. Reid each hit a double for Lake Placid, which fell to 3-9 with the loss.
Dom Delillo had two hits and earned the complete-game win on the mound for the Indians.
Ticonderoga 3, Lake Placid 1
LAKE PLACID - The Ticonderoga baseball team was on the winning end of a 3-1 defensive battle Wednesday, May 9 in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory over Lake Placid.
Ticonderoga's Jordan Woods came through with the decisive hit in the sixth inning when his triple brought in Miles Austin as part of a two-run inning.
The Blue Bombers scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh after Ryan Damp and R.J. Reid connected for back-to-back doubles. Damp finished the game 3-for-3.
Lake Placid pitcher Ryan Meyer took the hard-luck loss after striking out nine in six innings of work. Each team had four hits.

PERU - The Lake Placid girls tennis team picked up its fourth win of the season Monday, May 14 downing Peru 3-2.
Natalia Smith and Victoria O'Leary secured singles' victories and Serena Hallowell and Brenna Garrett won in a tiebreaker at first doubles to account for the Blue Bombers' points.
Smith won her first singles match 6-1, 6-1 and O'Leary won a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 match at third singles.
The Lake Placid girls team improved to 4-1 on the season, while boys dropped to 0-4.

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid girls and boys tennis teams split at home Wednesday, May 9 in matches against Saranac Central.
The Blue Bombers girls claimed a 3-2 win over the Chiefs girls, while Lake Placid' boys fell by the same score in another tight competition.
Natalia Smith and Serena Hollowell posted wins at No. 1 and 2 singles for Lake Placid, while teammates Cameron Brooks and Grace McGrew clinched the win by triumphing at No. 2 doubles.
Smith, a senior, defeated Saranac's Ana Dorrance in a pair of 6-1 sets, while Hallowell topped Kayla Napper 6-4, 7-5. The Bombers got their doubles win when Brooks and McGrew defeated Lena Menia and Olivia Klooster 6-2, 4-6 and 6-2.
Emma Newell picked up a point for Saranac in No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Joan O'Leary, and Saranac's No. 1 doubles team of Kristen Napper and Aimee Eggelston edged Blue Bombers Victoria O'Leary and Brenna Garrett 7-5, 6-3.
The Lake Placid girls improved to 3-1 with the win.
Nick Stosiek won at No. 1 singles and David Knapik and Steven Jelinek triumphed in No. 2 doubles in Lake Placid's 3-2 setback to a strong Saranac Central boys tennis team.
Lake Placid 61, AuSable Valley 60
AuSable Valley 116, Lake Placid 15
CLINTONVILLE - The Lake Placid girls team won a hard-fought road victory Tuesday, May 8 against AuSable Valley with a 61-60 victory.
The Blue Bombers won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relay events.
In the 400 relay, Esther Munoz, Gabby Armstrong, Rachael Ashley and Kendra Manning beat AuSable Valley with a time of 55.9 seconds.
In the 1,600 relay, Ashley, Jillian Goulette, Manning and Armstrong won in 4:43.4.
In the 3,200 relay, Gabby Armstrong, Nina Armstrong, Goulette and Ashley topped the field with a time of 11:38.
Ashley, who won in four events, also took first in the 400 in 1:06.6. Nina Armstrong took third.
Nina Armstrong also won the 3,200 in 12:56.9 and Jillian was third in the 200.
Manning won the 100 in 13.5 and was second in the 800.
Gabby Armstrong, Sage Miller and Molly Smith swept the 1,600 race. Armstrong paced the field with a time of 6:27.2.
Esther Munoz placed second in the 400 hurdles and first in the long jump. Briana Munoz placed second in triple jump and third in long jump and discus.
In the boys meet, AuSable Valley won 115-15.
Blue Bomber Trevor Knapp took first in the 100 with a time of 11.8 and the 200 in 24.9.
Prescott Doyle, Kyle Prinsen and James Montefusco each won three events for the Patriots, who improved to 1-2 overall on the season.
Prinsen and Montefusco were part of the 400 relay team and Montefusco and Doyle were part of the winning 1,600 relay team.
The Lake Placid girls are 2-1 overall and 2-0 in league competition, while the boys are 0-3, 0-2.
Saranac 19, Lake Placid 0
LAKE PLACID - The Saranac softball team left no doubt Monday, May 14, beating Lake Placid 19-0 to lock up the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Division I regular season championship.
The Chiefs (13-1) scored 15 runs over the first three innings and the Blue Bombers never responded.
Kourtnie Campbell recorded six strikeouts and allowed just one hit to earn the pitching win for Saranac, which is ranked No. 12 in the latest state poll.
Brooke Reid connected for Lake Placid's only hit.
Peru 8, Lake Placid 3
PERU - The Lake Placid softball team led early, but eventually relented on the way to an 8-3 CVAC loss to Peru on Wednesday, May 9.
The Blue Bombers took a 3-0 lead with three runs in the top of the second inning, but Peru responded with two in the bottom half and four more in the third.
Kelsey Taylor had two RBI to lead Lake Placid offensively.
Shannon Bombard singled, tripled and drove in three runs for the Indians.
