A celebration is scheduled on Saturday, May 19 with a tree planting ceremony in honor of all community volunteers followed by a ceremony and reception recognizing the 2012 Distinguished Volunteer(s).

A Distinguished Volunteer award will be given in recognition of a lifetime of activity and effort on behalf of the town and/or village. Volunteers do not have to reside in North Elba/Lake Placid but the organization that they have been nominated for, and where they have performed their services, must be within the boundaries of North Elba. The committee will accept nominations for a separate youth category for those 18 years of age and younger. The same criteria will be used.
Any individual or organization may nominate a candidate(s). Remember to provide at least one contact in support of your nomination, and include name and number where support person can be reached.
One of our communities' most valuable assets is its volunteers. So, if you care about your community, please nominate someone who is worthy of the award, and may not get any recognition besides this great honor. Don't let the chance go by to make a nomination - it's a great community-minded action.
Nomination forms are available at the Lake Placid Visitors Center at the new conference center on Main Street in Lake Placid, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please mail, deliver or fax completed nominations to: National Volunteer Week, c/o Kathy Pfohl, Lake Placid CVB, 2608 Main St., Lake Placid, NY 12946; fax, 518-523-2605.
