TICONDEROGA - The Lake Placid girls track and field team opened the season Saturday, April 21 with a victory in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Division II Pre-Season Invitational.
The Blue Bombers racked up 138 points to outscore the Elizabethtown-Keene-Moira-Westport team which had 88.3 points.
Ticonderoga won the boys meet with 161 points, while the Lake Placid boys were fifth with 21.
Kendra Manning was a three-time winner for the Blue Bombers, winning the 100 in 14.0 seconds and taking part in the 400-meter and 1,600-meter relays. Manning was joined on the 400 relay by Briana Munoz, Carleigh Garrett and Jillian Goulette for a time of 59.2 seconds.
Esther Munoz, Gabby Armstrong and Nina Armstrong teamed with Manning to win the 1,600 relay in 5:35.
Nina Armstrong won the 400 in 1:11.1 and Gabby Armstrong took the top spot in the 1,500 with a time of 5:54. Munoz won the long jump with a jump of 12 feet, 6 1/2 inches.
