Bombers baseball falls to Pats

CLINTONVILLE - The Lake Placid baseball team ran into a strong pitching performance Friday, April 20 and had to settle for a 7-1 defeat against AuSable Valley.

Blue Bombers' senior J.P. Morrison hit a double and Mario Gonzalez singled to account for the only Lake Placid hits against AuSable Valley pitcher Austin House, who struck out nine in the winning performance.

Lake Placid scored its only run in the second inning and held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the third when AuSable Valley posted two runs. The Patriots tacked on three more in the fourth and closed out the scoring with two in the fifth.

Ryan Meyer started the game on the mound for Lake Placid, before giving way to Morrison in the fourth. R.J. Reid took over for Morrison in the sixth.

John Ledeau and Kyle Sprague each had two hits, while Shane Douglas and Sawyer Taro had two RBI apiece.

Lake Placid fell to 1-3 with the loss, its lone win coming in the season-opener against Ticonderoga. The Blue Bombers were rained out on Monday, April 23 and were scheduled to return to action Wednesday, April 25 at home against Beekmantown.

Lake Placid plays on the road at Northern Adirondack on Monday, April 30 and at home against rival Saranac Lake on Tuesday, May 1.
