To the editor:
On behalf of Lake Placid High School, I would like to thank the community
partners who recently participated in the 2011 Career Immersion Day
program.
Career Immersion Day is a program which encourages local community
professionals to host interested high school students for a half-day
orientation and investigation into diverse career fields. Now in its 14th
year, Career Immersion Day has proven to be an excellent opportunity for
students to obtain first-hand experiences of careers in the "real world."
This year, our program sent 26 sophomores out to 13 sites in the Tri-Lakes
area. Immersion sites are located throughout Lake Placid, Ray Brook and
Saranac Lake and partners this year included:
Ted Blazer and staff, the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA,
Lake Placid
Michael L. Bird, AIA and staff, Adirondack Design, Saranac Lake
Staff members Gary Ladisic, Cindy Baird, Mel Frazer, Ann Miller, and
Laura Coffin, Lake Placid Elementary School, Lake Placid
Dr. Sue Benway and staff, Elmbrook Veterinary Services, AuSable Forks
The entire staff of High Peaks Dental, Lake Placid
Annie Brucker and the Spa staff, Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, Lake
Placid

Carol Joannette and staff, Lake Placid/Essex County Convention and
Visitors Bureau, Lake Placid

Connecting students to local businesses here in the Tri-Lakes area
continues to be a tremendous teaching tool and a valued partnership
between the high school and our communities. Thank you again for this
opportunity and your continued support of our students.
