To the editor,
Despite the misty weather and the 30-plus degree weather, Skate into 2012 was a great success this year. Nearly 400 people skated into the New Year; the admission was approximately split between students and paying patrons. This results in a donation of over 900 dollars to the Lake Placid Food Pantry. I feel what makes this event special is the immense community support and donation of goods and services.
I would like to express my gratitude to these organizations for their gracious assistance; thank you to my sponsors the Olympic Regional Development Authority; the Lake Placid CVB; the Lake Placid Kiwanis Club; Hannaford; Price Chopper; Compass Printing Plus; Lysek's Hillcrest Inn; the Coff E Bean Internet Caf and Coffee Bar; and Lake Placid Skate Shop.
Special thanks are also in order to the individuals from these organizations that helped make the event a success: store manager Jim Black and bakery manager Mark Fitz (Price Chopper); Paul Zurlo (Freihofer's); Kim Reilly and Jim McKenna (Lake Placid CVB); Denny Allen, (ORDA); Tammie Sullivan (Compass Printing Plus); Ray (Coff E Bean Internet Caf and Coffee Bar), Mr. and Mrs. Lysek (Lysek's Hillcrest Inn) and Phil Bombach (ORDA and Lake Placid Kiwanis Club). Much gratitude to my "Skate into 2012" team: Linda Sausa, Joan Goldthwait, Rachel Hollander, Michael Bartow, Ken Krom, Craig Dinsmore, and Shawn Fredericks.
Hoping your 2012 is a great one,
Christie Sausa
