To the editor:
As a retired school teacher, the letter C has meant average performance. However, after a recent fire at our home in Lake Placid, the letter C has taken on a whole new meaning for us. It now stands for competence, concern, caring and compassion on the part of the Lake Placid fire department and first responders.
We are extremely grateful to all of them and feel very fortunate to live in a community where such dedicated people are ready to help at a moment's notice. There aren't enough A+ grades in the world, so please accept our heartfelt THANK YOU.
