This seems to me to be an appropriate time to send a thank-you to those wonderful teachers and support staff at Lake Placid Elementary School. My wife and I were always grateful for the kindness and devotion displayed during our daughter's K through 5th grade years
If I had to choose a word to describe most of the staff there, it might be "professional", but it could just as easily be "caring", "concerned", or just plain "decent".
I'm sure we parent's could sit around and tell stories all day about Mary Kelly's "Super Scooper Words", or about how a high school student commented; "I remember everything Mr. L taught me, because he made it fun!
Thank you to Stacey Martin, Cheryl Schiller, Pat Uliva, Cindy Baird, Alison Smith and everyone else who had such a positive influence in our daughter's lives, and the lives of so many of our community's children. Thank you Bill Begor for the day you took my now 21 year old daughter by the hand and searched everywhere for her lost clarinet. You might not remember that day Bill, but I do. When someone is kind to your child, you tend not to forget it.
In the midst of chaos and negativity surrounding the leadership at our schools I would suggest we consider how lucky we are to have so many wonderful people working in our school system.
To everyone at Lake Placid Elementary: please keep up your good work, and stay positive; our children are counting on you.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah,
