To the editor:
I consider people who say false information about the railroad and/or ripping it up and converting it into recreational trail extremely offensive and rude to the volunteers and to the paid staff who work on the railroad. They need to respect that Adirondack Scenic Railroad is a commercial and business corporation and we can transport people who can't walk that far and/or who are in wheelchairs, and we can bring scenes of nature up close to them.
There are people out there who care and support the railroad in Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and elsewhere. We had sold-out trains on Columbus Day weekend (Oct. 8-10) and on Halloween weekend (Oct. 22-23). We broke some good records this year on the north end of the train, setting a day record of 1,373 passengers and a year-to-date record of 21,879 passengers, so in that case we are doing very good up here on the north end with the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. And for those of you people who are against the railroad, if you don't have anything nice to say about the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, think twice before you say it. Thank you.
