To the editor:
In recent days I have read many letters supporting or decrying candidates for public office. As the letters roll in, I read on, and pause to realize and remember, upcoming on 11-11-11, Veterans Day is a time to reflect upon how fortunate we are that others have served, are serving and die in order that we all may enjoy freedom.
One face I will not soon forget is that of Kevin Moore, a veteran who selflessly sacrificed all he could in order that our precious way of life is protected. The recent loss of LCDR Jonas Kelsall, whose family owned Camp Solitude on Lake Placid for decades, brings me to tears.
It humbles me that people step up to serve eagerly, going into harm’s way accepting enormous risks and exposure to constant danger, so we can all live in a free country. There isn’t a more noble cause; thank you to all veterans.
