To the editor:
I would like to publicly thank everyone that was involved in making the Ironman race this year a success. I live in Oconomowoc, Wis., and train regularly on the Ironman Wisconsin course and did that race last September. I came to Lake Placid this year because I heard it was just a wonderful venue. Well after spending a few days out there, I’ve recommended it to all my friends.
From the time I got in town until the time I left everything was great. The support from the community and the volunteers was just fantastic. The people out there cheering along the course and at the finish line really make the whole experience way more enjoyable. Without all the volunteers, this type of race wouldn’t even be possible and the volunteers at this race went above and beyond anything I have ever seen before.
One could say that all the Ironman races are the same, you swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 and then run a marathon, but the community of Lake Placid surely sets this race apart from the others. Not to mention the beauty of the Adirondack region.
Thank you for all your support.
